William Gamblin

Richard was born on October 4, 1929, in Corinth, Mississippi, to James M. and Marie Forsythe. He was married at age 21 to the love of his life, Martha Jean, and they were married for 64 years at his death. Richard and Martha Jean had two sons, Monty and Greg.
In 1960, he was converted from a jazz band to a minister of the Gospel. He loved music and was a noted trumpet player, singer, and was an avid quail hunter.
He was a member of the UPC for 46 years, serving in different capacities, including Presbyter, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Mississippi District UPC for 15 years.
Bro. Forsythe pastored churches in Ripley, Marks, Meridian, Burnsville, Forest, and evangelized for several years before his retirement in 2004.
He erected a new edifice in Forest, where he pastored for 29 years (serving two terms), and left the church free from any debt.
Bro. Forsythe loved public discussions and was successful in many of them. His earthly journey ended on April 6, 2015, but the memories of a great man live on.
