Lloyd Thompson

Lloyd G. Thompson was born on August 8, 1952, in Lincoln County, near Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Loyd Thompson and Flora Nell Waldrop Thompson. He graduated from Brookhaven High School in May 1971.

On October 6, 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda Sanders, in Monticello, Mississippi. Through the influence of his grandparents, Gary and Willie Rhoda Waldrop, who were faithful members of Bethel Temple UPC, Lloyd developed a love for church and the preaching of the Word under Pastor Darryl Harris.

In May 1980, Lloyd repented of his sins and received the gift of the Holy Ghost, beginning a life devoted to God. Soon after, he felt the call to preach the Gospel. He received his ministerial license with the Mississippi District of the United Pentecostal Church International on June 8, 1984.

In June 1988, answering God’s call, Lloyd, along with his wife Linda and their children, Lisa and Chris, established First United Pentecostal Church in Wesson, Mississippi. His dedication to the work was evident, and on June 28, 2013, he celebrated 25 years as pastor of the church he helped build.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Brother Thompson faithfully served the Mississippi District in several roles, including Section 11 Secretary and Treasurer for 10 years and Chairman of the Internal Auditors Review Committee. He was also co-founder of Foster Ministries, Inc., where he served as Secretary, and served as Secretary of Outreach Services International, a nonprofit disaster relief organization.

In June 2014, Pastor Thompson was diagnosed with colon cancer. He fought courageously, but on October 27, 2015, at the age of 63, the Lord called him home. At the time of his passing, he had faithfully pastored First United Pentecostal Church for 27 years.

Though he is deeply missed, his legacy of faith, love, and dedication continues to live on in the lives he touched.
