John Denson Ready

Rev. John Ready was born on May 19, 1932, in Monticello, Mississippi, to Barney Ready and Irma Davis Ready. His life was marked by courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith.
From 1951 to 1953, John served his country as a corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. While in combat, he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. He also received a Medal of Valor for serving under extreme and hazardous conditions. During the harsh Korean winters, he suffered severe frostbite to his legs, knees, and feet. Army medics treated him at the infirmary, skillfully saving his limbs; however, the injuries caused lasting damage that worsened with age and ultimately led to the loss of his ability to walk.
On February 18, 1956, John married Dorothy Nell Phelps. Together they raised two sons, Tommy and Curtis, and built a home grounded in faith and perseverance.
In 1971, John and Dorothy received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The following year, John answered the call to ministry, and in 1975 the couple received a divine call to establish a church. With faith and the help of a devoted congregation, they founded Liberty Pentecostal Church. Rev. Ready pastored the church for 27 years, faithfully serving until his retirement in 2002.
On March 10, 2010, God called Rev. John Ready to his eternal home. His life remains a testimony of faithful service—both to his country and to the Kingdom of God—and his legacy continues through the church he helped build and the lives he touched.
