James Stone

James Stone was born on August 25, 1941, in Harrisonburg, Louisiana, to James Thomas and Fronnie Jones Stone.
He graduated from Harrisonburg High School and went on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi, where he majored in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Accounting. He was also a graduate of H&R Block Income Tax School. In addition, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
On January 23, 1963, at the age of 21, James received the gift of the Holy Ghost. The following Sunday, he was baptized in Jesus’ name at Sandy Lake Pentecostal Church.
On June 4, 1964, he married the love of his life, Judy Diann McEntyre. Together, they raised three sons: Stanley, Greg, and Jason.
Throughout his life, Brother Stone faithfully served the church in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, outreach director, and church board member. Alongside his wife, he taught numerous home Bible studies and conducted Sunday School seminars using creative methods such as puppets, clowns, and visual aids. They also served as youth directors in churches in Ball, Louisiana, and Natchez, Mississippi.
While in Natchez, he served as administrative assistant under Reverend Charles Triplett, Mississippi District Secretary and Treasurer, and also assisted Reverend T.J. Mahoney.
Brother Stone received his ministerial license and was ordained on May 4, 1988. Over the course of his ministry, he pastored several churches in both the United States and Canada. His pastoral service included First United Pentecostal Church in Starkville, Mississippi (September 1986–July 1988), Springhill UPC in Wesson, Mississippi (September 1988–April 1996), and a work in Newfoundland, Canada, in 1999. He also served as a National Field Representative for Spirit of Freedom Ministries.
In addition to his pastoral work, Reverend Stone served as editor of the Mississippi District monthly publication, The Torch (1991–1994), Home Missions Secretary for the state of Mississippi (May 1992–May 1994), and Home Missions Director (May 1994–February 1999).
After a life of faithful service and impactful ministry, Reverend James Stone went to his eternal home on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana.
