Harvey King

Harvey was born August 2, 1945, to R.B. King and Ellie Mae Moore in Leake County near Carthage, Mississippi, and attended school in Edinburg. He spent his young life around the Laurel Hill Community.

He was raised in the church, but his conversion came when he was attending a revival in Carthage, Mississippi, at the invitation of Thilda Lilley. Sterling E. Pylant was preaching a revival at the First Apostolic Church at Carthage, under Pastor George Roberts.

He met and married the love of his life, Lynda Gail Powers, on May 29, 1954, and they were blessed with three children: Teresa, Keith, and Melissa.

During his ministry, he pastored the church in Durant for two years, Georgetown three years, Thomastown 12 years, and Pearl River UPC for five years. They began doing mission work with the Choctaw Indians near Philadelphia, Mississippi, in 1998, the only Choctaw Pentecostal Church in Mississippi, Pearl River Choctaw UPC.

Bro. King served as Section 4 Sunday School Director for four years, and Youth Director for four years. Lynda served as Section 4 Ladies Auxiliary Director for four years.

Bro. King received his eternal reward on October 2, 2022.
