Charles Killingsworth

Rev. C.E. Killingsworth began his ministry in the country of Korea. After his service to his country, he and his wife began evangelizing. They were a dynamic evangelizing team, ministering to countless multitudes and changing untold lives along the way. During fifty-six years of pastoring, he served the UPCI as Sectional Youth Director, Sectional Sunday School Director, Sectional Secretary and Treasurer, Home Missions Director, and Presbyter for thirty-three years.

They assumed the pastorate of the United Pentecostal Church in Columbia, Mississippi, where he pastored for six years. In 1962, he and his family moved to Leaksville, Mississippi, where he pastored Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church until 1968. He felt the call to Cleveland, Mississippi, so he and his family packed up and moved to begin a new work.

In 1971, the call to go home was heard, and he listened. His family once again packed, in what would be their last move, moving to Gautier, Mississippi. There, they built Gautier United Pentecostal Church, now known as Turning Point UPC.

It is said that a prophet is without honor in his own country, but Bro. Killingsworth became the exception. He came to his hometown and received much honor. He ministered not only to the spiritual needs of the community, but also met many of their physical and emotional needs as well. Through his gentle, giving nature, he impacted a city, a state, and his family.

He was a giant among men, leaving a legacy of faithfulness to God, an addiction to the ministry, and a love for people.
