Robert Hancock

Herman Hancock was born October 2, 1932, to Mark and Cleo Hancock in Rienzi, Mississippi. He completed his education in Rienzi, Mississippi.
Later, Herman moved to Corinth. One night, he went to Iuka and met Georgie Robinson. Not many months passed until she also moved to Corinth and they met this time at a church service. It was love at first sight, and after a three month courtship, they were married on January 27, 1952. They had a son, Randall, and a daughter, Sheila, who married Bobby Goode.
In 1954, at age 21, Herman met A.D. Gurley of Corinth, and Brother Gurley tried to talk to him about getting his life right with God. However, he continued in his worldly way until he met J.W. Fowler who pastored at Pleasant Hill, near Corinth, and Brother Fowler and he became friends. In 1957, Herman attended Pleasant Hill Church during a revival and repented of his sins but did not receive the Holy Ghost until May 16, 1960.
In 1961, Brother Hancock answered the call of God and began his ministry. He evangelized in Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee before becoming Pastor in Ripley in 1964.
Other positions he served are Section One Sunday School Director for four years, and Presbyter of Section One for eight years.
In 2001, Brother Hancock was elected Senior Pastor of the Church. When Brother Hancock became Senior Pastor, the church elected Brother Bobby Goode as Pastor. Brother Goode was Brother Hancock’s son-in-law. Brother Hancock remained as Senior Pastor until May 5, 2019, at such time a stroke left him unable to continue his duties. Therefore, at that time, he retired, after giving a total of 55 years to New Life Pentecostal Church.
