Larry Hoyt

Larry C. Hoyt was born on September 19, 1946, to proud parents Clifford and Ladonnia Hoyt. When Larry was three, his dad began preaching; when he was five, his dad was elected as pastor to his first church at Summit, Mississippi. Reverend C.C. Hoyt also pastored in McComb, Mississippi, and Mt. Hermon, Louisiana. After that, he built a church in
Jackson, Louisiana, and served there until his death.

Larry received the Holy Ghost at 15 years of age under the ministry of Reverend D.L. Welch. Larry completed his education at Mt. Hermon High in 1964 and joined the Army National Guard and served for seven years. He married the love of his life in 1966, Judy Carney. Larry stated, “Marrying Judy was the best thing that ever happened to him.”

Larry worked at Bectall Power Company until entering full-time ministry in 1975. He evangelized throughout the states until 1983, and he was known as the “Devil Chaser.”

Larry has served as pastor and Bishop at Lighthouse for 37 years. He served as Home Missions Director for Section Eight. He served on the Executive Board of Jackson College of Ministries. Currently, he is serving as Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Mississippi District United Pentecostal Church.

In the 37 years he has been ministering in Lucedale, there have been and still are signs, wonders, and miracles happening. Lucedale is known as a revival church, and the congregation has tried to carry that atmosphere by experiencing the baptism of hundreds of converts in Jesus' Name. After 37 years, Bishop Hoyt is still very active in the ministry and very blessed to serve beside his son Darrick, who serves as pastor.
