Hulon Sanford

Hulon was born May 12, 1935, to Reverend and Sister Shirley Sanford of Seminary, Mississippi. He was raised on a farm in Covington County, near Seminary. He came from a rather large family of seven boys and two girls, who received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in Jesus' Name.
Hulon attended grade school at Seminary and graduated from Sanford High School in Sanford, Mississippi. He attended Jones Community College for two years, and his major was Business Education.
He married Marell Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davis of Taylorville, Mississippi. They married on August 27, 1955, and had one son, Howard, and one daughter, Tammy.
Hulon received the Holy Ghost at the early age of thirteen and began preaching soon after that. Some of his first preachings were youth services in different churches in the area, also preaching street services with his uncle and aunt.
He began pastoring at an incredibly early age and pastored several churches: First United Pentecostal (FUPC), Plain (Richland) 1956-1960, Pascagoula UPC 1960-1966, Vivian, Louisiana UPC 1966-1967, FUPC Boonville 1967-1973, and North Bend Philadelphia 1973-1974.
He managed the Mississippi District UPC Book Store from 1974-1975, then again pastored the First United Pentecostal, Richland (Plain), 1975-1993. Brother Sanford was elected and served as District Secretary and Treasurer of the Mississippi District UPC from 1976-1980.
After completing 45 years of ministry in 1993, Brother Sanford continued to preach on weekends and fill in where needed. Indeed, Brother Sandford's ministry reached many.
