David Loyd

David D. Loyd was born in Lauderdale County to Bishop and Sister L.R. Loyd on April 17, 1950. He is the only son of nine children. David married the love of his life, the former Linda Williams, and they have three daughters, Dianna Elaine, Jennifer Denise, and Brandi Chanel.

He received the Holy Ghost at age 36, and was called into the ministry under the pastorate of Reverend Anthony Mansfield at Free Gospel Temple. His forte is in Evangelism. He taught Bible studies in Dekalb and Rose Hill, Mississippi, with his brother-in-law, Reverend Carey Horner, and a few other church members. Many souls were baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost in these Bible Studies.

Brother Loyd is known for witnessing to others about Jesus. He has witnessed to those who were down and out, as well as to the rich and famous in Meridian. Many souls have come to God because of his zealous witnessing. He is never ashamed of witnessing. He uses every opportunity to talk about the goodness of God. To name a few of these opportunities: His public job, the people walking by the church, the alcoholic and drug addicts who helped tear down the two houses next door, people who just stop by his home business for work to be done on their cars, and the people who work for him at his home business.

Brother Loyd has taken this unique style of ministry to the prisons and has preached at Victory Outreach (local halfway house) numerous times. Two men whom he baptized in the Lauderdale County Jail are members of the Free Gospel Temple.

He was educated in the Lauderdale County School District then went on to graduate from East Central Community College in the field of Auto Paint and Body. Brother David and Sister Linda finished a year-long course on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counseling at the St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
Brother Loyd is also known for the financial and hands-on help that he provides to people in need. Truly, he is dedicated to the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in every way. He has pastored Free Gospel Temple United Pentecostal Church in Meridian, Mississippi for nearly two decades.
