Coy Hill

Coy Hill was born Jan 30, 1938, in McNairy County Tennessee, in a house beside the Beauty Hill Pentecostal Church.

Both parents being Apostolic Ministers, the only life he ever knew was the Church.

On August 29, 1948, in a cow pasture pond, at Ball Hill, near Ingomar, Mississippi, where his father was preaching a revival, he was baptized in the name of Jesus, and he received the Holy Ghost. The crowd gathered that Sunday afternoon to rejoice with two people to be baptized, God began to move, and 30 were baptized, and 12 received the Holy Ghost.

Being raised in a Pastor’s home, he became involved in various ministries at an early age, preached some revivals in the panhandle of Florida in the early 1960s, and moved from the State of Florida to north Mississippi in 1964, to begin a business in Amory, Mississippi, which was opened in 1966. He became licensed with the UPCI and was Ordained in 1967. He became Pastor in Amory in January 1968.

The business was vital in supporting his family and ministry. In 1978, they purchased 26 acres of land in Amory, and moved to the new property in 1979, where they continued to build the Sanctuary, which was debt-free upon completion.

In the year 2000, Bro Stan Blaylock was elected Pastor, with a transition period. Through those years, they had ministers to go forth numbering in the mid-20s, had the privilege of serving Section 2, as Presbyter, for 36 years. During those years, he was able to serve some other churches that were going through some difficult times and help them to get established; those churches are doing well today.

On a mission to reach men in their community through activities, this led to a burden for a ministry to men in the District. Superintendent G.R. Travis and the District Board allowed them to reach out to other ministers who joined in starting the Men’s Ministry of the Mississippi District, which is thriving and still touching and changing lives!

He worked in the District in many areas during Hurricane Katrina devastation. He was privileged to be a partner in establishing Outreach Services International and also in Missions, helping to build a Bible School in Central America, along with building several Churches on foreign soil.

During those years, he was able to work with small Church Groups in other districts, and he served on various committees in the District.

He served on the District Planning Committee and other areas through the years. Serving on the Board of Directors for the Tupelo Children’s Mansion for many years was a joyful and fulfilling experience, as well as working closely with New Beginnings Family Services! Bro. Hill has lived a life of dedicated service to the Kingdom of God.
