Barron Price

Barron D. Price was born to Edward Dale and Catherine (Dunaway) Price on September 7, 1954. He is married to Beverly Lambert, and they are the parents of Jeremy, Jathan, Janna, and Bryson. His paternal grandmother, Mattie Ophelia (Dunaway) Price, was one of four women who were pioneers of the Apostolic faith in the Pine Grove community near the meeting point of Marion, Lawrence, and Walthall counties. His paternal grandfather, James Wallace Price, built a barn that provided a place for these women to meet for prayer and praise gatherings, which ultimately became the location of the church. For many years, this church was referred to as “The Barn” Church.
He was filled with the baptism of the Holy Ghost during a 50+-soul revival in 1969 at Pine Grove in Marion County. At the 1970 Mississippi District Youth Camp, God called him into the ministry at the age of fifteen.
Price graduated with a B.A. degree in Theology from Pentecostal Bible Institute and was a student during the first semester of Jackson College of Ministries (JCM). Years later, he served as an instructor during JCM’s final years, and presently he is an instructor and Dean of the Purpose Institute, Raymond Campus.
He served as assistant to Pastors J. J. Bourn, Sr., and Floyd Odom before beginning his pastoral ministry at Oak Hill UPC in Poplarville in 1978. The majority of his ministry has been at Polkville UPC, where he serves as Bishop and his son, Jeremy Price, serves as Pastor. Barron Price also planted a church in Shelby, North Carolina.
He has served as Sectional and District Sunday School Director (now known as Children’s Ministries) in both Mississippi and North Carolina and was involved in planning and implementing the first Junior Youth Camps in both districts.
As Presbyter of Section 6, he was honored to participate in the final District Board meetings under the leadership of District Superintendent G. R. Travis, during the tenures of Superintendents James Carney and James Sandy, and for a period under current Superintendent David Tipton, Jr.
Youth Camps have always been an important part of his life. Whether involved in meal preparation and serving, security, teaching, dorm supervision, or serving as Camp Principal, there have been very few years in which the Prices were not actively involved in at least one camp. It has been their privilege to serve as Senior Youth Camp Principal under the last four Youth Department administrations.
In 2017, he was elected Pastor of Morton UPC, where he continues to serve. Under his leadership, the congregation has made significant improvements to the physical facility and is experiencing revival with the recent influx of young couples. He also continues to oversee ministry as Bishop in Polkville.
Reflecting on his years of service, Price said, “Thank God for young men in both congregations who have acknowledged their calling, love this Apostolic message, and are actively engaged in propagating His glorious cause. To me, there is no greater cause than to serve in the Kingdom of God and to help equip and train others to become their best in doing likewise.”
