Lighthouse Worship Center - Lucedale

Lighthouse Pentecostal Church was founded in 1933 by Reverend and Sister Robert Crocker, with church services being held in a pine thicket on Mill Street. The first land was purchased in 1942 on Mill Street Extension, where Lighthouse Church was originally built. Reverend Robert Crocker was pastor of Lighthouse for approximately 20 years.
Reverend W.W. Paige became pastor of Lighthouse in 1953 and stayed about three years until 1955, when Reverend George Amaker became pastor. Reverend Amaker was the pastor of the church for approximately three years. In 1957, Reverend Joseph Slade became pastor and remodeled and rebricked the church building. Reverend Slade stayed with Lighthouse until about 1960.
In 1960, Reverend Walter Givens was pastor for approximately three years. Reverend Jerry Lambert then became pastor in approximately 1963 and stayed at Lighthouse for about five years, until 1968. At that time, Reverend Glenn Maughon served as pastor for about one year.
In 1969, Reverend Paul J. Hook became the pastor for Lighthouse. He purchased the land on Hwy 26/63, and in 1972, the sanctuary was completed. In 1974, the sanctuary was remodeled into a larger building. Reverend Paul Hook was the pastor of Lighthouse for approximately 10 years. In 1979, Reverend Buford Sims became pastor for approximately four years and left the church in 1983.
In September 1983, Reverend Larry Hoyt became pastor of the church. He started the outreach ministries of Lighthouse in the streets of Lucedale, at the nursing home, and in the jail. With the growth of the outreach for Lucedale and George County, the church was once again in need of more room. In January 1992, the church had completed remodeling again, but this time with a balcony intact.
In about 1995, a Family Life Center was built behind the church in order to provide more space for meetings, gatherings, and fellowship.
In 2006, the church started a building program once again, remodeling the front of the church, adding more room for new growth. The completion of this construction made Lighthouse the structured building it is at the present time.
In 2001, Reverend Darrick Hoyt began assisting his father with the ministry of the church. Bishop Larry Hoyt and son, Pastor Darrick Hoyt, make a great leadership team at Lighthouse Worship Center.
