Greater Life Pentecostal Church - Corinth

Greater Life United Pentecostal Church was founded in 1984 by Rev. Lee J. Edwards. After renting a storefront building in Corinth, Mississippi, for six months, the church bought a building and six acres and moved to the Biggersville community. The church experienced phenomenal growth in a short period of time, and the new building was remodeled. Bro. Edwards passed away unexpectedly while preaching a New Year's Eve watch night service in Florence, Alabama. Bro. G.C. Killingsworth was then elected as the next pastor.

The church continued to grow and experience revival. A softball complex and pavilion were built on the property. Bro. Killingsworth began to experience heart problems that would eventually lead to a heart transplant. He resigned due to health conditions. The church experienced some decline in attendance through several pastoral changes. Those Pastors included Brother Darren Killingsworth, Brother Peter Frazier, Brother Jimmie Tyrone, and Brother Greg Pruitt. Brother Don Clenney, a Missionary from Madagascar, was elected pastor in 2002 and served as the longest-reigning pastor with 13 years in 2015.

On October 26, 2015, Bro. Tommy Callahan and his wife, Sherry, were elected to serve as pastor. Bro. Callahan and his family had served many years in an assistant capacity for Rev. Wayne Isbell, his father-in-law. Since assuming the pastoral role at Greater Life UPC, revival has been in progress. With over 50 baptized in the precious name of Jesus and many refilled with the Holy Ghost, backsliders coming back to the Lord, and about 15 new converts receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, revival is in the air. Church attendance saw a complete change in 2020, with many afraid to leave home during the pandemic. In an effort to reach those who were at risk, a stronger online presence was established, with the church ministry providing nightly devotions via Facebook Live. Nightly online devotions have attracted an online following, and some services have had as many as 900 in attendance, with an average online attendance of around 300.

In the past five years, the church purchased and maintains a large van and a church bus for use in bus ministry. For a few months in 2020, the bus ministry was affected by the pandemic but is being re-established. During the months of absence of Sunday School, a masked and gloved weekly outreach team visited the bus ministry children/families with uplifting gifts, snacks, sometimes meals, and their Sunday School literature. These contacts have been maintained, and these children are now back in church.

A new roof, and many new fixtures within the church will ensure that the wellbeing of the property continues.
