First United Pentecostal Church - Senatobia

The First United Pentecostal Church of Senatobia was founded in 1977 by Reverend and Sister J. B. Cain. They answered God’s call and established a church plant, beginning in a storefront on Highway 51. As the church grew, they purchased property on the west side of Senatobia and built a beautiful sanctuary.

Brother Cain was a revivalist and loved to host revivals and guest speakers. He frequently opened his pulpit to students from Jackson College of Ministries. Sister Cain was heavily involved in the establishment of the Sunday School department, and many children were bused in each Sunday. The church also participated in the early days of Mississippi District Bible Quizzing.

Various pastors have filled the pastoral responsibilities over the last 40-plus years of the church’s history. Following J. B. Cain, the pastors have been Jimmy Cain, Johnny Tullos, Michael Mills, and the current pastor, Timothy Boswell.

As the years have come and gone, many improvements and additions have been made to the original church building. Under the pastorate of Michael Mills, what was once a shotgun-style building now includes a large fellowship hall addition. During this time, the interior of the sanctuary and the Sunday School department were also remodeled and renovated. A paved parking lot was added, as well as a church steeple. During the current pastorate, the church continues to improve. A parking lot extension has been implemented. The congregation continues to update the facility and has created a World Wide Web presence through the church website (fupcsenatobia.org).

The year 2020 found the church moving forward in revival. This church body continues to grow. It remains a lighthouse of hope and a hospital for the hurting. People continue to express faith in Jesus Christ, repent of their sins, and experience the glorious infilling of the Holy Ghost, along with baptism in the name of Jesus. The church continues to preach holiness and separation from the world and to support various ministries and missionaries from around the world. Weekly sermons continue to be preached, the music team ministers, and the Sunday School classes convene. Many active ministries have been set in motion to help keep the torch of truth burning bright. Ladies Ministry, Bible Quizzing, Youth Connect, and Young Married Fellowship—these programs have been implemented to reach the lost and help Christians grow in faith.
