First United Pentecostal Church - Iuka

Rev. A.D. Gurley traveled from Bemis, Tennessee, to hold tent revivals in northeast Mississippi from 1933 to 1935. Rev. Gurley conducted revivals in Iuka on street corners, a theater, and church members' homes. Rev. Gurley eventually utilized the Tishomingo County Courthouse to hold services on Sunday afternoons after moving to the nearby City of Corinth.

The assembly became a part of the Pentecostal Church, Inc., on February 18, 1935. Due to the great success of Rev. Gurley's tent revivals and the sudden influx of new apostolic saints, the need arose for a permanent building. The church body purchased the land on which the building stands in April of 1936. The First United Pentecostal Church was established at 608 North Main Street by Rev. S.A. Bonds when the constituents moved a one-room building from Alabama to the Main Street location. The congregation dedicated the facility in August 1936. Several additions and stages of remodeling have rendered the building a beautiful and spacious house of worship.
