Apostolic Lighthouse - Wyatte (Holly Springs)

In early Jan. 2003, Bro. Wesley and Sis. Carol Newby were driving on Hwy 4 when they arrived at the spot where the new church sits today. The Lord spoke to them at the same time and said, “this is it.” They were overjoyed they had found the place God wanted for the church. However, at that time, the property was not for sale.

They found a little building for rent on Wyatt Loop about a mile from where the Lord spoke to them. Bro. Newby and C.W. Langford went to check on renting the building. The building was rented for $150.00 a month, but rent would not start until services were started.

They immediately went to work on the dilapidated old building. It took a couple of months of hard work to get it ready. On March 23, 2003, the first service was held at 2pm with 66 in attendance. Some churches close by were there visiting. From the time we opened the doors, there was a consistent 30 to 40 in church every week. The first Sunday, Frank Langford was filled with the Holy Ghost. He made ALC his home church until his death on June 10, 2016. He was a faithful saint and served as a Trustee of the church for several years. Several were baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost and they saw people healed of cancer during the first years.

The church felt it was time to purchase property to build but couldn't seem to find any. Missionary Jerry Sawyer came and held a missions service. The next Sunday, Pastor Newby told the church, “if we build a church in Belize first, the Lord will help us find land. We raised the money that morning and let Missionary Sawyer know the money was on the way.” Monday morning, we found out the land where God said, “this is it” was for sale. In 2004, 13 acres was purchased for $25,000, and that is where they built the new church.

The papers were drawn up and they handed the seller a check for the full amount. They stayed in the old building a total of five years where they saw miracles, and new families come in. Some are still there today, and some are going to other churches now. In 2007, they laid the foundation on the new church. After the steel building was in place, Cowboy (Benny Harper) Sandra Wagoner's son, did the framing of the building. He also built the pulpit especially for Bro. Newby as a gift. All the plumbing was paid for by Bill and Carolyn Davis.

Every member donated time and money to complete the church. When it was finished, it was valued ay over a half million dollar building, not counting the furnishings. Five years to the day they started in the old building, they opened the new building, March 23, 2008. God continued to bless. Lots of visitors, and visitors became members. People were baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.

In January 2013, Bro. Newby resigned from ALC due to mounting health issues. Bro. Newby stated, “That was the hardest decision we have ever made. Our life and heart were in ALC.”
God prepared Bro. Terry and Sis. Shannon Teddlie and they were elected as pastor in February 2013. The church continues to be a Lighthouse beacon to those who need salvation to come and find Jesus, the light of the world.
